From a warm cru on terra rossa, limestone and red sandstone soils and vinified in stück and halbstück vats, the Ungsteiner 2022 Weilberg GG Riesling Trocken opens with a very fine and elegant but also intense and mineral bouquet of crushed stones and ripe fruits. Lush and refined on the palate, this is a full-bodied, round and intense, very dense and complex Riesling with fine tannins on the long and intense, persistently saline finish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2023.

Fascinatingly smoky and toasty but also packed with ripe yellow fruit, this medium- to full-bodied dry riesling makes a bold statement. Quite some tannins in the long finish, though the acidity is quite soft.

The 2023 Riesling Ungsteiner Weilberg Grosses Gewächs is from a site where limestone, sandstone and terra rossa meet. Reduction colors zesty lemon and pear peel on the nose. The palate is slender, juicy and really bright, filling both mouth and mind with cool, cool liquid that radiates lasting
