At the end of the season a sole peach hangs on the tree and finally achieves full ripeness in the first cool days of autumn. Very restrained and elegant, but with substantial depth and considerable finesse in the long finish.

The 2023 Riesling Kallstadter Annaberg Grosses Gewächs is from a proper surrounded by walls, always the last site to be harvested. The 2023 was made in three Viertelstück barrels - a total of 900 liters. Smoky verve on the nose speaks of some reduction. The palate is wonderfully lithe and so juicy, showing ripe but pale Mirabelle, lemon and beautifully cool, supple, smooth length.

The 2023 Riesling Kallstadt Annaberg GG shows a fresh, bright and flinty nose with citrus and lime aromas as well as spicy phenolic notes. Silky, juicy and rather smooth in the mouth, with pleasantly ripe, elegant fruit and fine acidity as well as good length, it has significantly less drama than the Saumagen. Tasted at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in Wiesbaden in August 2024.
